The answer to this question misses out one crucial word. What Kipchoge ran in October 2019 was not officially recognised as a marathon, because (to quote Wikipedia), "standard competition rules for pacing and fluids were not followed and it was not an open event."
The answer to the MQL question should have been "Run a marathon distance in under two hours."
The official men's world marathon record currently stands at 2:01:39 – set by Kipchoge in the Berlin Marathon on 16 September 2018.
